My battle with scoliosis

About 5 years ago, I was told that I had to quit one of my favorite sports - gymnastics - because I found out that I have scoliosis. I probably could've battled my medical condition by going to treatment or physical therapy, but part of the reason I quit was because I was scared. I was scared to advance as a gymnast because of the possible injuries.

Today, I am able to do this elbow stand (and it actually looks better than my attempt in 2011 [one click to the left]) and I am learning how to tumble and stunt as part of the cheer team at SFU. Every practice I am amazed at what I am able to do. The coaches push me beyond my limits, and now as cliche enough, I learned that there are really no excuses. Excuses only hold me back to reaching my full potential.

I have often regretted quitting gymnastics, but today, I am fulfilled with satisfaction that I am learning how to do things I've always wanted to do.
